LAB COMPARISON

Axiom vs ILS Laboratories

An analytical laboratory serving dietary supplements, cosmetics, raw materials and research peptides, selling a standardised Full QC Panel plus a la carte tests through a client portal.

Everything attributed to ILS Laboratories below was read on their own website on the date shown beside it, and every source is linked. Where they do not publish something, the page says so instead of guessing. Where they are ahead of us, the page says that too.

Where ILS Laboratories is ahead of Axiom

This section comes first deliberately. A comparison page that only flatters the lab that wrote it is worth nothing to a buyer, and you would find this out elsewhere anyway.

  • +

ILS states ISO 17025 accreditation. Axiom does not hold ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation.

  • +

Their rapid DNA screen is published as an available service with an approximate one-week turnaround. Axiom accepts its required Rapid DNA layer into controlled accession; unresolved qualification is surfaced to our staff for resolution rather than producing a completed-panel PASS.

  • +

Their Full QC Panel bundles endotoxin and heavy metals into the standard offering. Our 4X panel does not carry either; endotoxin is a paid module on 4X and both are layers of the 8X panel.

  • +

Their published full-panel allocation is 3 vials recommended, or 4 when each vial contains under 10 mg. ILS assigns those vials across analytical, endotoxin, and microbial-screen preparation groups; it is not a published universal minimum for the DNA screen alone. An unresolved Axiom Rapid DNA qualification is surfaced to our staff for resolution and does not block release.

Side by side

Panels in this market do not answer the same set of questions, so the prices are not like for like. Read what each one includes before comparing the numbers.

Stated location
AXIOM ANALYTICS

Registered business address 2108 N St Ste N, Sacramento, CA 95816, USA. That is the entity's principal address, not a published laboratory street address, and it is not where samples are received: a receiving address is issued with each order.

ILS LABORATORIES

8222 Vickers St STE 106, San Diego, CA 92111.

Accreditation
AXIOM ANALYTICS

Not ISO/IEC 17025 accredited. Testing runs under a documented quality system and every method prints its own validation status beside the result it produced.

ILS LABORATORIES

States ISO 17025 Accredited Laboratory in the page header and footer. We did not find a certificate or scope document published on the site.

What a standard order covers
AXIOM ANALYTICS

Defined Axiom 4X Essential $195 scope: Molecular Mass Fingerprinting, Homogeneity Profiling, Net Peptide Mass Quantitation, Rapid Microbial DNA Screen. Axiom 8X Comprehensive $595 adds Bacterial Endotoxin, Elemental Catalytic Sweep, Post-Reconstitution Stability, Fentanyl & Analog Screen. Paid 4X/8X intake is open with required Rapid DNA and a conservative accession reservation. Unresolved platform, matrix-suitability, control, criterion, or material evidence is surfaced to our staff for resolution; custody, entry, signing, and release are not blocked. Endotoxin is a $50 module on the defined 4X configuration and is included in 8X. USP <61> and USP <71> are separate services that may be accessioned; unresolved controlled evidence prevents CFU or sterility PASS claims and is surfaced to our staff for resolution.

ILS LABORATORIES

Full QC Panel of five tests: purity and quantitation by USP 621 reversed-phase HPLC, identity confirmation, endotoxin by USP 85 kinetic chromogenic LAL, heavy metals by ICP-MS against ICH Q3D, and a Rapid Sterility Screen on a DNA microarray. ILS describes that last service as a microbial-DNA target screen; the peptide page does not identify it as USP <61> or USP <71>. All five are also sold individually, with LC-MS identity as a separate add-on. Minimum 10 mg per sample; 3 vials recommended, 4 if under 10 mg; ILS explains that the vials separate the HPLC/ICP-MS, endotoxin and microbial-screen preparation groups, so 3 is a full-panel allocation rather than a minimum for the DNA screen alone.

How identity is established
AXIOM ANALYTICS

LC-MS/MS (ESI+), included in the base panel. Theoretical mass, observed mass and the error in daltons and ppm are printed for every declared component.

ILS LABORATORIES

Identity Confirmation is described as HPLC Retention Time Matching (RTM) against certified reference standards. LC-MS Identity is listed separately as an add-on.

Published price
AXIOM ANALYTICS

Axiom 4X Essential $195 per base sample service. Axiom 8X Comprehensive $595 per base sample service. USP <71> is a $175 separate service when selected with 4X or 8X and is included in DX. Graduated panel discounts: 5–9 samples: 10%, 10–14 samples: 15%, 15–19 samples: 20%, 20–24 samples: 25%, 25+ samples: 30%. The highest earned rate applies and does not stack. Extra same-lot vials for cross-vial consistency from $95, stepping down per vial.

Not published

No price is published on the public site. Rates for the Full QC Panel and the a la carte tests are behind free registration at portal.ils-lab.com. We cannot compare on price and will not estimate one.

Published turnaround
AXIOM ANALYTICS

6 business days average for 4X and 6 business days average for 8X analytical work, measured from arrival of the required accession allocation rather than from order placement. Qualification or material gaps are surfaced to our staff for resolution and do not block entry, signing, or release. Any USP <71> execution has a minimum 14-day incubation timebase and cannot be folded into a fast analytical tier.

ILS LABORATORIES

The peptide-testing page describes an approximate one-week turnaround for the rapid DNA screen. That is materially shorter than the traditional 14-day culture period; it is not a USP <71> turnaround claim.

How a third party retrieves the certificate
AXIOM ANALYTICS

A public URL per released certificate, a verification page and QR, a public JSON endpoint, an embeddable widget, and published keys plus a signing recipe so the seal can be verified offline.

ILS LABORATORIES

QR-verified COAs, with a Verify COA page at ils-lab.com/verify and COA downloads inside the client portal.

Where Axiom genuinely differs

Each of these is tied to something you can go and check on this site, rather than to an adjective. If the artifact named is not there, the claim is wrong and we want to know.

Identity on the base Axiom panel is LC-MS/MS accurate mass, not retention-time matching. ILS publishes identity as HPLC retention time matching with LC-MS identity as a paid add-on. Retention time is a strong presumption; an accurate mass is a different class of evidence, and for a blend it resolves each declared component separately.

Our certificates can be verified offline against published keys and a published digest recipe, not only by a lookup against our own servers.

What we could not establish

Gaps in our knowledge, stated as gaps. None of these is a criticism of ILS Laboratories, and none of them should be read as an absence of the capability. It means we did not find it published and we are not filling it in with an assumption.

  • ?

Price, at any tier. It is gated behind registration, so there is no price comparison to make here.

  • ?

The accrediting body and the accredited scope. The site states ISO 17025 accreditation and we did not find a certificate or scope document on it. Ask them for both.

  • ?

What the QR on their COA resolves to, and whether a third party who is not the submitting customer can retrieve a certificate.
